The Subject module allows you to manage patient data in a flexible interface, where the data is defined dynamically and can vary by study. BSI can link patient data to all specimens collected for subjects. The Subject module includes user customizable verification methods that allow you to specify your own data checks. The combination of data linkage and verification provides you with a mechanism to ensure your data is accurate.

With HIPAA and other regulations, protection of patient data is a primary objective of any system. BSI has enhanced its already robust role-based security framework with additional features for the Subject module. In addition to the standard role based security and fine-grained system privileges, access to the subject data are regulated by explicit user permissions for each study. Also, subject data is encrypted in the database to prevent data examination in case of unauthorized access to the database.

The Subject module is fully integrated into the BSI system so you can manage your patient data side by side with your biospecimen data. BSI provides managers for defining and tracking patient consent that are integrated into Subjects and Requisitions. Based on the Subject feature set, the Consent module allows you to define any number of consent forms for your different studies.
